Thunderbird Email Software

These instructions will get your Fyles Web Design hosted email software running.

Once Thunderbird is running, do the following:

  1. Click Tools > Account Settings
  2. Account Actions > Add Mail Account
  3. In the screen that follows:
    Your name: whatever you would like to be the sender name on your mails for this account.
    Email address:
    Password: whatever you were provided with at the time of account set up.
  4. Click Continue
  5. Click Manual config and make certain that your user name is your whole email address.
  6. Your server settings are like this: mail.your domain name.co.nz
    So for example, somebody with email address john@smith.co.nz would have the server name mail.smith.co.nz
  7. The port number will be 143
  8. The username is always your email address
  9. Click OK
  10. When you connect to the mail server for the first time, the 'Add Security Exception' dialogue box will appear. The tone of this is a bit stern - but it is fine to click Confirm Security Exception on this occasion. Make sure 'Permanently store this exception' is ticked.
