Mac Mail Setup

Use this instructions to get your Mac Mail software set up with your Fyles Web Design hosted email account.

Once the software is running, follow these steps:

  1. Click Mail > Preferences > Accounts
  2. Click the + (bottom left)
  3. In the box that follows:
    Full Name: (type the name that you would like to be sent along with your emails)
    Email Address:
    Password:
  4. Continue
  5. Account Type: IMAP
  6. Description: whatever you like
  7. Incoming mail server: is in the form mail.< your domain name> So for example a user with email address john@smith.com would have the incoming mail server mail.smith.com
  8. User Name: your full email address
  9. Password:
  10. Continue
  11. Tick the 'Use Secure Sockets Layer' (SSL) box, leave 'Authentication' at Password
  12. Continue
  13. Outgoing Mail Server
    Description: whatever you like
    Outgoing Mail Server: if you already have a working SMTP server choose it from the dropdown list here. Otherwise use the incoming mail server here too.
    Tick 'Use Authentication' and enter the same details as before.
  14. Continue
  15. Tick 'Take account online' > Create
  16. When you see the 'Verify Certificate' dialogue box, click Show Certificate > Tick the 'Always trust' box
  17. Connect
