MacOS 3G Modem Setup
Follow these instructions to set up your 3G E1750 Huawei modem as sold by Fyles Web Design.
- On your Mac computer, download this software and run it. You will need your administrator password to do this. When the installation is complete, nothing will appear to have changed.
- Remove the sliding cover from the 3G USB modem
- Place your SIM card into position as indicated on the device
- Replace the sliding cover
- Insert the 3G modem into a free USB port on your computer
- Open System Preferences > Network
- You will see the modem listed as Huawei at the left hand side. Click this once.
- Type in the Telephone Number for the SIM card in the space provided. Leave Account Name and Password blank
- Click the 'Advanced...' button
- Using the 'Model' dropdown menu, choose GPRS (GSM/3G)
- In the 'APN' field, type one of the following:
- Vodafone: www.vodafone.net.nz
- 2degrees: internet
- Click 'OK'
- Click 'Apply' (bottom right)
- Tick the 'Show modem status in menu bar' box
- Now close the System Preferences window and click the small modem icon (a telephone handset) that will now be in the menu bar (top right of your Mac screen)
- Choose 'Connect Huawei' from the menu
- You will see status messages appear briefly in the menu bar
- Your device is now installed and working
